Exclusive Interview: Jack Your Body LDN

We speak to London’s fastest rising House and Disco night, Jack Your Body LDN about their unique night and what they have in store for the future.

How did you Jack Your Body LDN come about? What was the inspiration behind it?

Thank you for having me. It was never actually my intention to set up a party brand as I’d spent the majority of my early career in the Film & Television industry. But I was sitting in a rooftop bar with my friends in London listening to their DJ playing varying genres and I just thought I’d be able to maximize the space better. It was then at this point I sat down and wanted to create something that hadn’t been done in London before. I’ve been brought up on the house music sounds of the late 80s/early 90s and that’s where my real music passion lies so I knew I had to incorporate this into my party somehow. There were many events that already existed around this type of genre, but none of which were in an exclusive rooftop bar overlooking the River Thames, and that’s where Jack Your Body LDN was born.

You have recently just held one of your events at The Mondrian a couple of weekends back, how did that go down?

We held our first birthday event at The Mondrian Hotel in London last weekend and it was by far our best event yet. I’ve got to give a special shout out to the DJs Brandon Block, Billy Cocks, George Goodson, SoulMuch and Jack Osman for delivering standout sets. We had such a mix of people in there, ranging from 21 years old right the way up to 61. But the vibe has always been the same, people are there just to have a good time, and the genre of music helps to achieve that.

Your events seem to have more of a Disco/Jackin’ House vibe to them that is suited to the more daytime party goers rather than the darker Tech House sounds that London is currently pushing at locations such as Printworks etc. What made you go in that direction?

I’ve been to lots of Tech House nights over the years, and I’m sure I’ll continue to for years to come. But my passion is the funky and soulful house and disco vibe. As I said before, I was brought up on that genre and now I enjoy running an event that pays homage to the original classics but also appreciates everything new that is being released now. The genre is having a real resurgence at the moment and I think Glitterbox deserves a massive thanks for that!

Which three artists would you say have influenced you musically?

I would say that the three artists that have influenced me the most are Joey Negro, Todd Terry and Dimitri From Paris. Funnily enough, all of whom I’d love to get down and play for Jack Your Body LDN one day!

Hopefully someday soon….

You are set to take JYB to Ibiza this year, could you tell us more about that?

This is really exciting for us. When we threw our first party a year ago, we never thought we’d be on the White Isle this summer but through hard work and determination (and exhausting our contacts) we’ve managed to land not one but two gigs on the island. The first came about by a family friend introducing us to the people at The Beach Star Hotel, which is a really cool and funky hotel in San Antonio. We set a date for a pool party on Saturday 21st July, then we booked the amazing Clara Da Costa to headline and she will be supported by our resident DJs. Tickets must be purchased in advance for this so feel free to reach out to us via our social media pages to secure yours.

Then our friend and resident DJ Brandon Block called us to ask whether we’d like to be a part of his Monday Night residency at Es Paradis called ‘What The Funk’. Obviously, it didn’t take much thinking time to say yes to that one! So on Monday 23rd July we’ll be joining forces with him to bring you a night of funky and soulful vibes at the glorious Ibiza club Es Paradis. Our team of DJs Billy Cocks, George Goodson & SoulMuch will be joining Brandon on the night.

What advice would you give to up and coming promoters?

I would say create an event that you yourself would want to go to, it’s important that you feel a passion for it and then you will get the most out of it. Also, its important to try and come up with your own little niche to make your event unique.

What are the plans for you going forward?

Going forward the plans are to continue hosting our quarterly residency at The Mondrian Hotel in London, as well as launch a sister nighttime brand. Hopefully our parties in Ibiza go well this summer and then might lead into something more frequent for us there next year. We’re also in early talks about launching a small boutique festival on a European island (top secret for now) next summer which we think our crowd will absolutely love.

Our next event is in Ibiza on Saturday 21st July at The Beach Star Hotel and tickets can be purchased by contacting us via the avenues below:
